Doing Business in Downtown Miami
The chapter meets in a tower on Biscayne Boulevard, walking distance from the county courthouse and a short hop from Brickell. That address decides who is in the room. Litigation and immigration attorneys, title and closing people, commercial insurance, accountants who handle returns with a foreign address on them, and owners whose customers are other companies rather than households.
Downtown work has a rhythm the suburbs do not. A large share of members deal with clients somewhere in Latin America, so the day starts early and half the side conversations before the meeting happen in Spanish. When a foreign buyer closes on something here, a whole chain of professionals moves with the deal: the realtor, the closing attorney, the CPA who explains what the tax treatment will be, the banker who opens the account, the insurance agent who covers the asset. That chain is the reason the Miami room passes so much work internally.
